Do you know which college has one of the best entrepreneurship programs in the country? We’ll give you one guess. We do! Seriously, UC Berkeley just keeps getting honors and awards, whether it’s for our professors or discoveries — and now our entrepreneurship program.
Recently, Mashable, a news website, released a list called “Colleges with Powerhouse Entrepreneurship Programs,” and UC Berkeley was on it! It lists 15 colleges and includes schools such as Harvard, MIT and Stanford (hiss!).
Though Mashable doesn’t really rank the schools (it just lists them in alphabetical order), it’s an incredible list of programs. Schools were evaluated by judging program professors, extracurricular activities at each school, rankings, syllabuses, courses offered and the teaching principles of each school.
UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business was included in the list, lauded for both its undergraduate and graduate courses. Haas’s Lester Centre for Entrepreneurship was specifically mentioned for its excellent program, faculty and notable alumni. Additionally, the list noted various businesses that sprung off from each school and whether they have been able to survive the cold, harsh world outside college.
For example, Danae Ringelmann and Eric Schell, the founders of Indiegogo, a site that helps people fund projects, met at UC Berkeley. Other famous alums include Mike Tarpenning, co-founder of Tesla, Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple, and Gordon Moore, co-founder of Intel.
We can add this new honor to the long list of accolades Cal has received — no big deal.
