An arrest has been made in connection with the fatal shooting of a Berkeley man on Feb. 4.

Berkeley Police Department has confirmed that an arrest was made in the shooting of 34-year-old Zontee Jones, who was shot and killed near the intersection of San Pablo Avenue and Delaware Street.

As the investigation into what is Berkeley’s first homicide of the year is currently ongoing, no further details can be released, according to BPD officer Stephanie Polizziani.

“Homicide detectives are working long hours following all the leads they can in their investigation,” Polizziani said in an email.

At approximately 11:08 a.m. on Feb. 4, police responded to calls about a man being shot on Delaware Street. Witnesses described hearing loud yelling on the street followed by two gunshots.

Jones was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
