The following is a sample of crime in Berkeley from Oct. 28 to Nov. 3, provided by the Berkeley Police Department.
Residential Burglary, 2900 Block of Channing Way
On Oct. 28 at 5:27 p.m., a residential burglary was reported in the 2900 block of Channing Way. The victim reported that an unknown suspect broke into his apartment sometime during the night. The suspect may have entered through a window. The suspect stole several items including a laptop computer.
Auto Burglary, 2100 Block of Parker Street
On Oct. 28 between 1:15 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., an auto burglary occurred in the 2100 block of Parker Street. The victim parked and locked his rental vehicle on the street. The victim returned to the vehicle and discovered a window broken. The unknown suspect stole the victim’s luggage.
Stolen Vehicle, 2600 Block of Piedmont Avenue
On Oct. 29 at approximately 1:43 p.m., the victim reported their vehicle stolen from the 2600 block of Piedmont Avenue. The victim parked and locked their vehicle on the street. An unknown suspect stole the victim’s vehicle sometime during the night. Taken is a gray, 1997, Acura, TL.
Vandalism, 1300 Block of Grant Street
On Oct. 29 between 7:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., vandalism to a vehicle occurred in the 1300 block of Grant Street. The victim parked their vehicle early in the morning. When they returned to their vehicle, the discovered an unknown person had scratched the exterior paint of the vehicle.
Theft, 3000 Block of Wheeler Street
On Oct. 30 at approximately 5:00 p.m., a theft was reported in the 3000 block of Wheeler Street. The victim reported that an unknown suspect entered the rear yard of his property. The suspect then stole a bicycle that was in the yard.
Auto Burglary, 1700 Block of Hopkins Street
On Oct. 30 at approximately 12:38 p.m., an auto burglary occurred in the 1700 block of Hopkins Street. The victim had parked her vehicle on the street. An unknown suspect broke the window to the vehicle, stealing the victim’s backpack.
Residential Burglary, 3200 Block of California Street
On Oct. 31 between 1:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., a burglary occurred in the 3200 block of California Street. The victim reported returned home to her residence and hearing the house alarm beeping. The victim discovered an unknown suspect forced open a door. According to the victim, she did not find anything missing.
Stolen Vehicle, 2400 Block of Prince Street
On Oct. 31 at approximately 8:15 a.m., an auto theft occurred in the 2400 block of Prince Street. The victim parked their vehicle the day before. The victim went out in the morning and discovered an unknown suspect stole her vehicle. The vehicle taken is a 1997, beige, Honda, Accord with four doors.
Auto Burglary, Hearst Avenue/Euclid Street
On Nov. 1 between 1:30 p.m. and 3:45 p.m., an auto burglary occurred near the intersection of Hearst Avenue and Euclid Street. The victim parked and locked his vehicle in near the intersection. When he returned he discovered one of the vehicle windows smashed and his IPOD stolen.
Auto Burglary, 1800 Block of Francisco
On Nov. 1 between 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. an auto burglary occurred in the 1800 block of Francisco Street. The victim had parked her vehicle on the street, locking it. When she went out in the morning and unknown suspect had prowled through the vehicle taking several items. The victim does not know how the suspect gained entry to the vehicle.
Vandalism, 1800 Block of Francisco Street
On Nov. 2 at 9:36 a.m., the property manager of an apartment building in the 1800 block of Francisco Street reported the building vandalized. The unknown suspect painted graffiti on the side of the building.
Auto Burglary, Shattuck Avenue/Haste Street
On Nov. 2 at approximately 11:45 p.m., an auto burglary occurred near the intersection of Shattuck Avenue and Haste Street. The victim parked and locked his vehicle near the intersection. An unknown suspect broke a window to the vehicle stealing the victim’s backpack.
Vandalism, Shattuck Avenue/Cedar Street
On Nov. 3 at approximately 3:25 a.m., a vandalism incident occurred near the intersection of Shattuck Avenue and Cedar Street. The victim was inside his work vehicle when he sounds coming from outside. He exited his vehicle and saw the unknown suspect had sprayed graffiti on his van using spray paint. The suspect fled the area.
The suspect is described as:
Suspect – “White Male Adult, 5’10”, slim build, black hair, clean shaven wearing a black pea coat and black jeans.”
Stolen Vehicle, 1400 Block of Kains Avenue
On Nov. 3 at approximately 10:00 a.m., the victim reported her vehicle stolen from the 1400 block of Kains Street. The victim reported her husband had parked the vehicle the night prior. When they went out in the morning the vehicle was gone. The stolen vehicle is a 1997, Silver, Honda, Civic, Four Door.
